Vocal Scale Exercises

How to exercise the voice

Singing vocal scales is the easiest way to become a great singer. By practicing these scales just once daily, you'll notice a huge difference within a short period of time.

The exercises can be sung on all vowels, but work on vowels you find difficult too.

The only way to become better is by practicing!

Oh, and if you have problems with a vowel, read about vowel modification in my article on how to sing high notes to get specific tips on how to sing them.

Upload these scales on your iPod and so you can use them any time. Singing scales is a fabulous way to warm up your voice before a show!

Be careful when singing scales!

If you feel any pain or strain you should not sing higher yet. You shouldn't run a marathon after sitting on a couch for half a year. Same thing with singing!

Well, let's get going..

The first scale is a simple five tone scale

The five tone scale is good for warming up the voice and getting an even tone throughout your range. I find it very helpful!

A simple melody exercise

Download the simple melody exercise

This vocal exercise is a simple melody that starts out deep and goes higher. Sing along with the melody line, which is louder than the rest of the piano.

The agility exercise

I made this scale to help you improve the agility of the voice. It's first played slowly, then twice the speed.

The bass exercise

Deep and powerful bass voices can give new depth to good songs! The bass scale helps you sing deep!

But don't be fooled by it's name. It's just as helpful for girls who wants to sing deeper. ;)

..And singing deep doesn't decrease your ability to sing high notes, so don't back out if you want to sing high notes too!

Use vocal scale exercises in both your high and low range, and you will be able to do a lot more with your voice.

New exercises will come, so come back. But these should be enough to get you going.

Mail me your questions or scale requests to mail@learn-how-to-sing.com and I will see what I can do.
